BIOGRAPHY:
Co-Founding members, Anaϊs Labrèque and Dominic Laporte, are continually striving to implement public art projects, as a tool to build a more accessible and prosperous future. Together, with their shared passion for community-based and accessible art forms, they strive to implement a variety of mural projects in communities around the world, celebrating each one's unique identity through the power of public art.

CONCEPT STATEMENT:
This mural celebrates the Charlottetown Library Learning Centre as a welcoming community hub rooted in learning, connection, and place. Books anchor the composition, symbolizing storytelling, curiosity, and the free exchange of ideas, while flowing layers of water, reflections, and landscape guide the eye across the wall and connect the various elements.
Inspired by PEI's maritime identity, the design incorporates boats, water reflections, and the oldest lighthouse, Point Prim, alongside references to local neighbourhoods, gardens, and native plant life. Seasonal colours reflect the changing landscape throughout the year, with warm oranges nodding to the Island's distinctive red soil, sunrises and sunsets, along with vibrant blues evoking the surrounding sea. A large sunflower on the corner acts as a visual landmark, drawing visitors around the building while adding warmth and optimism.
The composition responds directly to the architecture through large-scale cropped imagery, transparent layers, and light-filled details that create depth and movement. As the wall narrows toward the front of the building, the artwork gradually tapers off, working with the form of the space.
Our practice focuses on creating murals that reflect local identity while fostering a sense of connection between people and place. Through contemporary imagery, vibrant colour, and layered storytelling, this mural aims to celebrate the library as a space for learning, gathering, and discovery for everyone, while honouring the landscapes and communities that make Charlottetown unique.
