Neighbours helping neighbours
Woke up Saturday morning to no power and total devastation in our neighbourhood. We invited our next door neighbour in for coffees as we had a generator hooked into our power meter. This was the beginning of 8 days of morning coffee and evening dinners with the main course being supplied by food from freezers that was starting to thaw. As people started to go outside we soon set up a plan to remove trees from roof tops and free up downed trees. Our generator started circulating the street to try and save the food in freezers while we worked together to remove fallen trees and clean up properties. Day 8 power restored but cleanup continues with endless energy and sore bodies abound. Friends dropping in for hot showers and conversation to lessen the stress
Fiona did not beat us but made us stronger as a community.
