The City of Charlottetown is transitioning from the COVID-19 Temporary Patio Program Bylaw to a permanent Patio Bylaw. This work includes stakeholder engagement, research on comparable patio regulations in cities across Canada, and updates to the draft bylaw based on public feedback.
A stakeholder engagement session was held on Feb. 5, 2026 at City Hall. As a follow-up to that session, the City is now inviting public feedback on the proposals that were presented. A brief overview of the proposed changes is available here.
Next steps include incorporating feedback into the draft bylaw and submitting an amended version to the City Solicitor for review. Following a legal review, the draft will be shared with Senior Management and the Planning and Heritage Committee, before proceeding to Council for consideration and final approval.
