Have your say on the future of Public Art in our City!
The City of Charlottetown is leading an update of the Public Art Policy to meet the objectives of the City of Charlottetown’s Public Art Plan: Making Public Art a Priority, the City’s Cultural Policy, and the Strategic Plan.
The final document will enable Council, city staff, and the City’s Arts Advisory Board to make strategic decisions on public art and support the implementation of the City’s Public Art Plan.
What is Public Art?
Public art refers to a temporary or permanent artwork in any media created by a professional artist or artist group that is, has been, or will be sited or staged in a publicly accessible space, and is acquired in compliance with the City's Public Art Policy.
What is a Public Art Policy?
A Public Art Policy outlines the open and transparent process through which the City commissions, acquires, receives via donation, or deaccessions public art. It also establishes the vision and guiding principles for the overall approach guiding the acquisition of public art.
