Tree Reclamation Projects
As part of the local recovery efforts from post-tropical storm Fiona, the City of Charlottetown is salvaging trees to help tell the story of what can be built from what was lost.
This is a space for the community to come together post-storm, share stories and provide input on the tree reclamation opportunities.
Currently, our work crews are continuing with the clean up efforts in residential areas, along with parks, trails and natural spaces. With support from the community members, some of the large trees and debris are being marked and identified for future projects. Ahead of milling, the next step will be to organize and preserve the tree debris by painting the ends.
We will continue to use this project page to provide updates on our tree reclamation efforts.

Carved and Sculpted Art
Host an event for Canadian/worldwide artisanal wood carvers and sculptors to create art throughout the city. Similar to St Jean Port-Joli, Quebec, which draws many tourists year round. There could be a theme or subject-matter requirements that would tie all of the individual art projects together.

Use remaining stumps of damaged trees to make small give a book/take a book libraries.
Standing tree trunks could be hollowed out with shelves added and capped with a roof and a door of some kind and perhaps a solar light above the door. People can donate a book and/or take a book as needed.
