Zoning and Development Bylaw Review

The City of Charlottetown has released the draft Zoning and Development Bylaw for public review - it can be found under 'Documents' on the right side of this page.

The City is launching another round of public engagement on the draft bylaw, including two public open houses where residents can learn more about the proposed changes, ask questions, and share their feedback.

Date: Wednesday, April 22
Time: 5:30 – 8 p.m.
Location: Confederation Centre of the Arts, 145 Richmond St.

Date: Thursday, April 23
Time: 6 – 8:30 p.m.
Location: West Royalty Community Centre, 1 Kirkdale Rd.

Overview

The comprehensive review and update of the Zoning and Development Bylaw will include identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for modernization and regulatory alignment with the City’s Official Plan, Heritage Preservation Bylaw and provincial regulations.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Reviewing and updating the existing zoning designations and land use regulations.
  2. Updating subdivision requirements and processes.
  3. Reviewing opportunities to incorporate best practices for sustainable development and environmental protection.
  4. Improving consistency and clarity in the bylaws' language and structure.
  5. Reviewing opportunities to enhance public engagement and consultation processes.
